Japan’s National Finger-picking Guitar Contest Winner – Shohei Toyoda
We are excited to announce that dear friend and brilliant guitarist Shohei Toyoda recently stole the show at Japan’s 2012 National Finger-Picking Guitar Competition.
About the Competition
This is the 12th year for this event, held in Yokohama, Japan. 20 guitarists are chosen out of all the applicants to compete in the final round. Each musician plays two pieces; an arrangement of a well-know piece and an original and this is done in no more than five minutes.
Judges includes well known guitar players in Japan, representatives from the sponsors like the chief editor of the Japanese Acoustic Guitar Magazine, CEO of ZOOM etc, and guest from overseas (this year it was Mr. Woody Mann,, fingerstyle player from New York)
There are 8 awards given: 1st place, 2nd place, best arrangement, best original award (and others from various sponsors)
Shohei won 1st place and best arrangement and he did so playing his custom Lichty Guitar!
