Lichty Custom Dreadnought Guitar with Craig Lavin Inlay Crafted for Nashville Great – Jimmy Fortune!
Gotta love this project! This guitar, from start to finish, was crafted with love, care, collaboration and creativity. It began with one friend dreaming up a gift-of-a-lifetime for another – a custom Lichty Guitar. That idea and gesture alone were amazing, but that is just the beginning of the story. In order to capture the full heart-felt scope of this gift, careful thought was given to every facet of the design. This instrument is a true collaboration between the gift-giver, the luthier, and the inlay artist.
The Guitar …
It had to be a Brazilian Rosewood and Spruce Dreadnought guitar for just the right voice and tone. For the best of player comfort it was designed with both an armrest and rib bevel. Traditional features like a Mahogany neck, Ebony fretboard and bridge, bone nut and saddles along with highlights like a custom side soundport and the Mother-of-Pearl purfling on the fretboard, soundboard and back all come together in this dream Lichty guitar. But that is not all!
The Inlay …
Inlay artist Craig Lavin worked closely with Jay and the customer to design a very personal, one-of-a-kind tapestry of artwork. From the front you see the Bald Eagle and American flag adorned headstock, the fretboard with Jimmy’s name inscribed along with special appointments and the wooden rosette with inlay. Turn this beauty over and the intricate inlay tells a story truly beyond words. The scope of the inlay is breathtaking!
The incredible look of this guitar pairs perfectly with its sound. Here is an audio sample:
