“Build Your Own Uke” in the spring 2017 issue of Ukulele Magazine
When the folks at Ukulele Magazine contacted Jay to let him know they were doing an article on ukulele building workshops and they wanted his feedback and insights, we were excited. There is a great deal of focus in the media on how to play ukulele, and that’s a good thing, yet more and more people are exploring building their own instrument. We love that Ukulele Magazine decided to spotlight this trend, providing helpful tips and resources.
“The pride and satisfaction of building your own uke can be a life-changer for students and teachers.” So starts Audrey Coleman’s article in the spring 2017 issue. Time and time again we have seen that magic happen while folks have worked their way through a guitar or uke building workshop here at Lichty Guitar. Case in point, the father-son team of Joe and Don Zenas came to our workshop to build ukuleles together. Talk about creating memories and having a good time! A part of their adventure is shared in the article. Too, a photo of the beautiful uke that student Darrel Aiguier built is featured.
We invite you to check out the latest issue, which features uke building workshop stories with several luthiers followed by a nice round-up of workshops/courses available from England to Hawaii. Of course, the issue is packed with other great content including the latest from Jake Shimabukuro, Taimane Gardner and more!
