Meet the Luthier November Event
November 15th, 2011 at Isothermal Community College, Columbus, NC
It was a wonderful evening with a wonderful group of folks! We are grateful to Isothermal Community College for hosting this event and to Randy Flack for getting up on stage and playing for us!
From 6pm to 7pm a variety of Lichty Guitars and ukuleles will be on hand for folks to look at, learn more about and to pick up and play. Custom Guitar Builder Jay Lichty will be on hand to answer any guitar / ukulele related questions folks may have. How often do you have the chance to pick up and play fine handcrafted guitars to your heart’s content? We love these gatherings because we always meet great folks and it gives us an opportunity to hear our instruments being played by a variety of musicians.
The second half of the evening (from 7 – 8pm) will be a concert by Jay on guitar and ukulele.
Jay Lichty has been a musician all his life. Whether it’s the banjo, guitar, mandolin or the ukulele-as long as it’s got strings you can find him playing it.He has been a part of the local music scene for years. In the early days he was known for his hot licks on the banjo in bluegrass bands. More recently he could be seen on stage with Cat’s Eye Blue, The Jay Lichty Band and The Lone Derangers. Now, as a solo performer, Jay brings his own style of music to the spotlight – an eclectic mix of original songs and instrumentals along with creative renditions of old favorites. What makes an evening of Jay’s entertainment truly unique is that the instruments he plays are all handcrafted by him. He is a guitar-builder by day and a musician by night, so it is the perfect fit.
This is a free community event.
