The Luthier’s Guitar – a Brazilian Rosewood Alchemist Guitar
When a guitar builder sets out to build his own guitar – what does the luthier’s guitar turn out to be? Truly outstanding!
Yes, Jay has been playing a Lichty since he built his very first guitar but after building the last few custom instruments, loving them and watching them go out the door (to very happy folks) he decided it was time to spend some time in the shop building himself a new guitar.
There has been a set of Brazilian rosewood calling to Jay since the day it arrived a couple years ago. Jay paired it with an Englemann spruce top and gave it some new trimmings. It has a lovely Alchemist body style with a wedge-shaped body and it has the addition of a bevel on the armrest of beautifully figured koa and a multi-scale fretboard (often referred to as a fan fretboard). The bevel and multi-scale fretboard are two design details Jay has been excited about doing and they have turned out great!
