Small Group Guitar Building Workshop – Days 1-6
Three guys who’ve been dreaming about building their own guitar one day are well on their way. Hosted by Tryon Arts & Crafts, this ten-day workshop is being taught by Jay with assistance by Peter Robson. Thank you Peter!
The project – a mahogany dreadnought guitar with an Engelmann spruce top, mahogany neck, Indian rosewood fretboard and bridge and tortoise binding. One feature that is truly distinct on each instrument is the headstock. Jay gave the group free rein to design this as they would like and they are all looking great!

I wouldn’t change a thing about the whole experience. I’d recommend an acoustic guitar building workshop with Jay to anyone who really wants to do this right. – David Lanik, one-on-one guitar building workshop student

“I’ve found what I love to do, what I was made to do. It can be an artist / creative expression and allows me to use my woodworking skills. Thank you Jay for giving this to me.” – Aaron Dyer, one-on-one guitar building workshop
