Custom Order Patchwork Parlor Guitar
A Wonderful Guitar and a Wonderful Story
When one of our favorite customers came to Jay with an unusual request, he was all ears. Bill currently owns two Lichty Guitars: a Brazilian Rosewood Dreadnought and a Mahogany Dreadnought. He has been wanting a custom Parlor Guitar, but not just any Parlor Guitar.
Bill has had a vision of a guitar built from scraps of wood at the lumber yard that normally get tossed aside. To his way of thinking, there must be some mighty fine pieces of wood in that scrap pile that deserve a good home, rather than wasting away. As he began sharing the idea of reclaiming some of those “orphaned pieces” to create a special guitar, Jay lit up. They have tossed this back and forth and Bill even made a trip down to the shop to help with the final design.
But where to find this orphaned wood? Jay immediately thought of our friends at RC Tonewoods. Some of our finest sets of wood have come from them and they are always a pleasure to work with. Well, Jay got on the phone with Peter at RC Tonewoods and Peter enthusiastically jumped on board to help. He discovered some beautiful pieces of wood that were parts of incomplete sets and sent a few photos along to Jay. The project came to life the day that collection of previously mis-matched wood arrived. Thank you RC Tonewoods!
