Patty Griffin and Buddy Miller
We had the extreme pleasure last night of connecting back up with Doug Lancio, friend and amazing lead guitarist currently on tour with Patty Griffin and Buddy Miller, of seeing the show, and of visiting back stage with one and all.
The show was way beyond our wildest expectations! Buddy Miller is a legend for good reason. Amazing guitarist / vocals that blow your mind / super presence on stage and with the audience. Patty and her band joined him for part of his set. What a cool way to blend the two talents together and to open a great show.
Patty Griffin’s set brought to life the tunes off her latest album, Downtown Church, and gospel never sounded so good. She is a brilliant, beautiful talent whose voice is captivating!
Round out with the rest of the incredible band members and it is truly one of the best shows we’ve seen.
A real thrill of the evening was having an opportunity to spend some time with Doug and to hang out while Buddy, Patty, bass-player for the band, Frank Swart, Doug and others took turns trying out the three Lichty Guitars we had on hand. They graciously welcomed us, took some serious time to play each instrument and made our day by singing praises for each. As the guitars passed hand to hand just of few of the comments made were: “These guitars are really beautiful.” “The great thing about this guitar is that it gets both the rich lows and the defined highs” (referring to a Brazilian Rosewood Dreadnought). “I love this guitar. It naturally has the tone we try to achieve with our EQ’s” (referring to the Indian Rosewood Om with Curly Redwood top).
Here are a few pictures of the highlights:
It was a night to remember.
Thanks so much to Doug and the whole band for a warm welcome!
If you have an opportunity to catch this tour, go for it! If they won’t be in your neck of the woods pick up Patty’s Downtown Church CD and Buddy and Julie Miller’s Written in Chalk CD.
Their music is magic!
