Meet the Luthier November Event
November 15th, 2011 at Isothermal Community College, Columbus, NC
It was a wonderful evening with a wonderful group of folks! We are grateful to Isothermal Community College for hosting this event and to Randy Flack for getting up on stage and playing for us!
From 6pm to 7pm a variety of Lichty Guitars and ukuleles will be on hand for folks to look at, learn more about and to pick up and play. Custom Guitar Builder Jay Lichty will be on hand to answer any guitar / ukulele related...
We've found that it isn't the size of the event/crowd that makes the difference. In the case of our Meet the Luthier event in Greenville, SC the attendance was small and the folks who showed up were meant to be there. From the mix of talented new players to veterans on the guitar (and ukulele) each instrument got some serious play time and a great jam session unfolded.
Many thanks to Tony Seawell, the go-to guy for concert planning in the upstate, and to the ownership of The Fox (formerly The Swamp Fox) in Greenville. SC

This venue has got to be one of the coolest! Tucked beneath the historic Saluda Inn, the Wine Cellar has got the feel of an old pub. Host and owner Joni Maheffey-Rauschenbach knows her wine (and beer) and offers a fabulous selection. It is always a treat to spend an evening there enjoying the cozy setting and the great line-up of music.

Handmade Guitars and Photography
We know that Nancy MacDonald is an incredible massage therapist because Jay and I frequently enjoy the benefits of her work!. We discovered that she has great eyes which translates into her being an amazing photographer. This past Saturday we learned one more thing about Nancy. She is a great host for a fun event!
A standing-room-only crowd gathered at Nancy's Healing Arts Institute in Hendersonville, NC on 2/12. This collaborative event featured an opening of Nancy's photographic works, a collection of Lichty handcrafted guitars & ukuleles to be picked...
On the night of January 25th the fog rolled in and the rains pounded ... not fit for man nor beast to go out in. I have to say, you couldn't tell that by the 40 or so folks who joined us at Isothermal Community College that evening for our Meet the Luthier event. We had a great turn out and had serious fun. Old friends and new attended and many played just about every instrument we had on hand. That's what makes the format of these events so cool. The first part is basically an open invitation for people to pick up and play any instrument and to talk one-on-one with Jay. How many times does...

Guitar Builder's Shop
Folks often ask - "I'd love to see your shop. May I come by?"
The answer ...
We'd love for you to visit ! Just call ahead to make an appointment.
You never know what project may be on the luthier's bench on any given day or who may be visiting and that's what makes a visit to the shop so cool. Perhaps Jay is opening and stacking the latest shipment of wood, is building a new jig, carving bracing for a ukulele or, if you are really lucky, he is putting the strings on the latest guitar and playing the first tune.
You'll have an opportunity to visit with Jay, see the behind...
The hours of great music and stories we enjoyed at the Guitarists in the Round Concert was seriously hard to condense down to a few minutes. We've given it a go though and hope you enjoy.
More videos on the way of a few individual performances.
