Latest Collaboration with Ukulele Great Kimo Hussey
Here is the latest in a long line of ukuleles that Jay and Kimo Hussey have designed together. Kimo basically describes the sound, look and feel he is going for and Jay gets busy in the shop.
The project Jay is currently working on is a modified baritone ukulele. Kimo is looking for a voice somewhere between a baritone and tenor. Jay has eliminated the traditional mid-top soundhole which allows him to take full advantage of the top-plate in terms of voicing. Soundports are placed on both shoulders of the upper bout. This is a nylon string uke with the neck and body connecting at the 15th fret. The targeted tuning will be G to G.
Features: Cocobolo back and sides, Bear Claw Sitka Spruce top, non-traditional soundhole placement, ebony bridge and fingerboard
