Lichty Ukulele on the Cover and Much More
In July of 2014 we traveled to Tacoma, Washington, by invitation of the Guild of American Luthiers (GAL) to attend their semi-annual convention. Jay was a featured speaker on a ukulele builder panel with renowned ukulele builders Mike DaSilva and Bob Gleason. He also presented a break-out session on the crafting of side soundports in ukuleles.
Hundreds of luthiers from around the world gathered to get inspired, to show off their latest creations and to share wisdom and tips with each other. This was a gathering of some of the best guitar builders and ukulele builders around.
You can experience some of the fun via our original post – Guild of American Luthiers 2014 Convention Highlights.
We are excited to share that the winter 2015 issue of “American Lutherie”, the GAL’s quarterly publication, features an article on that ukulele building panel discussion. As an added bonus, a Lichty myrtlewood ukulele graces the cover of this latest issue!
Look to their website to learn more and to order the Winter issue to read the entire article.
Our thanks of to the GAL staff for their ongoing contributions to the world of lutherie!
