Kimo Hussey is to the world of ukulele – a teacher, mentor, ambassador and performer. He is also one of our favorite people in the world!
We are excited to share with you his latest endeavor …
“Low G”
It is a CD featuring a lovely set of tunes played in Kimo’s unique and heartwarming style. This would be a wonderful gift to give to yourself or to the ukulele-lovers in your life!
Jay and Kimo have been collaborating for several years on ukulele designs and Kimo has traveled the world with a Lichty Ukulele (or two or three) in hand. We are so honored and thrilled that Low G was played entirely on his Brazilian Rosewood Low G Lichty tenor ukulele.
From KimoHussey.com …
“Low G” by Hawaii’s master ukulele artist and instructor, Kimo Hussey, is an instrumental collection of favorites hailing the harmonies created by the sound of the “low G” string. Like many islanders, Kimo grew up playing the ukulele. Inspired by a favorite uncle, he developed a deep passion for the tiny instrument with big potential, developing his skills far beyond his peers.
As founder of the Ukulele Guild of Hawaii and Pacific Music Foundation, Kimo is celebrated for creating beauty in simplicity. Listen to “Low G” and discover how this master blends melody with rhythm into the brilliantly mellow sound which has taken him all over the world as a performer and instructor.
From Kimo himself: “Aloha! This is my latest experiment to promote ukulele instruction —– The songs on this CD contain many different technical issues I think are worthy of being included in any ukulele curriculum. But what I think is not nearly as important as what YOU think and I solicit your feedback on any song regarding techniques I utilized that you would like to consider. I can also relate practice strategies to employ. If your objective is to learn the song, I can tell you how it was arranged. If your desire is for me to amplify on left or right hand techniques I used, let me know that as well. I’m going to address your feedback either directly or post videos that would do this as well. Your thoughts??????”
