Lichty Guitar Building Workshop, July 2014, Day 1
The latest acoustic guitar building workshop is underway and Jay is reminded each time we welcome a new student into the shop just what an honor it is to share his passion for guitar building with others.
The first day typically begins with the student playing a variety of Lichty guitars to get a feel for what they want to build. How does each distinct neck feel? What is the sound they are after? What body-style fits them like a glove? Then it is off to the shop to begin building their dream guitar.
By the end of day one, Rollie, our latest guitar building student, had decided on all the design details for his new guitar and had its construction on the fast track. To say that Rollie is excited is an understatement. His guitar is going to be amazing!
The project – an Alchemist guitar body style with a wedge-shaped body and beveled armrest, cocobolo rosewood for the back, sides and head plate, a Sinker redwood top, mahogany neck, ebony fretboard and bridge, camel bone nut and saddle …
