Ukulele Review – Chechen Long Neck Tenor Ukulele U60
From The folks at The Ukulele Site / Hawaii Music Supply …
“This is a new custom tenor from talented east coast luthier, Jay Lichty. It has a 19″ scale, so 2” longer than normal tenor. This slightly longer scale gives a more bell like response and sustain. This particular tenor has a beautiful sound and feel. It’s very unique and impressive. Take a listen to a “dry” sound sample from Corey Fujimoto and read more about it’s features below.
A very exquisitely designed and uniquely handmade tenor for the tone connoisseur, the lover of beautiful exotic woods, for those elevated by the most musical of instruments. Lichty is an east coast luthier making high end ukes that are among the finest you will find. This instrument is truly exceptional! The added scale length feels nice and easy to play and gives added clarity, almost a sparkle to the tone. It also achieves amazing intonation for a true sound in the higher register. The sound excels in large part because of the choice bear claw spruce top. The sides and back are an exotic tonewood you may not yet know of.
Chechen is often referred to as Caribbean rosewood. though not a rosewood, it has a very similar character. Tonally rich and visually beautiful. Other appointments include-
- Slotted headstock
- Radius fretboard
- Side sound port
- K&K pickup
- Ameritage case. The works!
We are proud to show you an instrument of this caliber, built with artist pursuit and meticulous attention, this is one of the best to come through. Hopefully we can continue to show you Jay’s phenomenal ukes. Treat yourself if you can, this is well worth the price!”
