Ukulele Building Workshop with NC Luthier Jay Lichty
If you have ever dreamed of building your own ukulele this workshop is for you!
NC luthier Jay Lichty teaches both acoustic guitar building and ukulele building workshops here in our Tryon, NC luthier shop. Whether you have your sights set on a career as a luthier or simply want to build your own ukulele for fun, this workshop fits the bill. You will build your own instrument and once Jay has applied the finish and allowed for cure time – you will have the thrill of playing an instrument you built for years to come.
Ukulele Building Workshop Overview
Format: One-on-one instruction (stay tuned for info on upcoming small group ukulele workshops or contact Jay)
Length of Workshop: 10 days (working approx 9 am – 6 pm for 10 consectutive days)
The Project: Any style ukulele that Jay currently builds. You will have an opportunity to select the tonewood for the back and sides from a wide variety of options and the trim details. You will complete the build and Jay will apply the finish and ship your instrument to you.
Cost: The cost for the workshop is equivalent to the cost of having Jay build that specific ukulele for you plus shipping, if you do not leave in our immediate area. You can determine the instrument cost by using our Ukulele Price Calculator and selecting the tonewood, details and such.
Travel: We are located in Tryon, NC. Zip code 28782. Closest airports are Ashville, NC and Greenville-Spartanburg, SC -each approximately one hour away.
Accommodations: We’ll provide information to you on area lodging. We do have a one-bedroom studio apartment on-site available for $50 per night.
Dates: Jay offers a limited number of these one-on-one opportunities per year. Contact Jay for availability and date
This workshop is designed for folks who have some shop experience.
