Mystery Guitar – the Sturgill
Every guitar player hopes to have that moment when they walk into a music shop or studio and they see “their guitar.” From the very first glance they know it and then when they play those first few notes they are hooked. It is really fun for us when that love-at-first-sight happens with a Lichty Guitar.
Well, Jay had this kind of experience a few days ago and his newly acquired vintage guitar is the result. While in Asheville we happened to drop in to visit Autumn at Guitar Mama. Autumn brings years of lutherie experience to her guitar retail and repair business in west Asheville. She also typically has an assortment of interesting used instruments. From the moment we walked in the door a really unique handmade guitar caught Jay’s eye. He had to have it. He brought it home, has taken it apart and put it back together out of sheer fascination and we’re now on the hunt to learn more about the guitar and who made it.
