NC Luthier Jay Lichty at Lanier Library
On June 19th Jay gave a short performance at Lanier Library in Tryon, NC as a part of their ongoing Brown Bag Lunch series. We are grateful to the library and to those who attended for the warm welcome and hardy applause. We had a wonderful time.
Lanier Library is truly a treasure in our community …
Established in the winter of 1889, The Lanier Library is the oldest institution in Polk County and one of only sixteen membership libraries in the United States. From its humble beginnings as a ladies’ book lending club, the Library moved into its own building, on the corner of Chestnut Street and Melrose Avenue in Tryon, in 1906 and was named for the renowned American poet and Tryon resident, Sidney Lanier. The Library has been extended several times to include additional rooms for reading and research but retains its charming arts and crafts character. It is also the home of the Sidney Lanier Award annual poetry competition and provides regular programs of local cultural interest that are free of charge and open to all. Visitors are always welcomed. For more information, visit http://www.lanierlib.org
